The Technology Department is responsible for ensuring technology is properly planned for, implemented and maintained in our school system in order to support the educational process and the day-to-day business operations at each of our 11 locations. Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to, support of the wide area network (WAN), each school's local area network (LAN), servers (including SUN, Linux, Windows and Netware 6), Internet connectivity and security, office and educational software, desktop and laptop PC maintenance, technology training, cable TV, fiber optics and category 5 and 6 wiring. Other specific duties of the department include:

  • establish and maintain technology standards
  • establish technology budget for the county to
  • manage expenditures for hardware, software and services
  • manage technology supplier relationships
  • establish and maintain a staff of skilled employees to support technology for the county
  • development and management of preventive tech support practices
  • work with NC Department of Public Instruction to ensure that county needs are met
Thanks to funding set aside by the Board of Education, the technology department is able to offer e-mail accounts to all faculty and staff members as well as free dial-up Internet access.

News and Announcements

  • We are now connected to a state wide education network, which will enable us to increase
    our internet bandwith from about 10mbps to 100mbps and to 1000mbps when we need it (an increase of about 100%-1,000%).
