Madison County SchoolsAt a special called meeting of the school board Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. at Madison High School, US Congressman Charles Taylor formally announced the appropriation of $1 million, from the US Department of the Interior -- and signed by the President -- to fund the initial construction of an emergency and community wellness center in Marshall.

Madison County SchoolsThe Madison County Board of Education will combine its monthly Work Session Meeting with the Regular Meeting on Monday, July 18, 2005. There will be no meeting on July 25, 2005. Closed session will begin at 5:00 p.m., with Regular session beginning at approximately 7:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at Madison High School.

Exciting Changes Unveiled with New Curriculum Web Site

In 2001, the Standard Course of Study (SCS) Web site drew an average of 20,000 visitors per month. In 2005, the site was accessed by an average of 43,000 visitors. As these numbers increased, the need to revamp this important resource became apparent. After months of hard work, we are pleased to unveil the retooled SCS Web site.

Youth Rec Soccer Signups

Madison County SchoolsTomorrow, Saturday, June 11th, we will be having a walk-up registration for Fall Rec Soccer at the old Ingles plaza on the Marshall by-pass from 9:00 - 12:00.  Financial scholarship forms will be available for those families needing assistance.  You may also register on-line at www.abysa.org.

Summer School

Madison County SchoolsThe summer school schedule has been finalized by the Curriculum Committee. Summer school classes will be held June 13 through June 30. Classes for elementary students will be held at Brush Creek Elementary while middle school and high school students will be at Madison Middle School. Classes will begin at 8:00 and dismiss at 12:00.

Salute to Education

Madison County SchoolsThe 2nd Annual Madison County Schools Salute to Education will be May 30th at Madison High from 5:30pm until 9:00pm. This event is sponsored by the Madison County Education Foundation and the Madison County School System. Pre-K thru 12th grade exhibits of art, writing, science and Senior Projects will be displayed in the gym, breezeway and media center. Music, dancing and singing will begin at 6:30pm in the cafeteria and then move to the Little Theater. All schools will perform. Free food will be provided.


New Staff Development Calendar

Madison County SchoolsWe have placed a new Staff Development Calendar on the website.  This calendar is solely for faculty and staff events and will include both system-wide and school based events.  Events on the calendar will include: training, workshops, ILT sessions, curriculum based meetings, administrative meetings and other events involving school system employees.  Events are also color coded so it is easy to identify who is involved in each activity.  If you have a staff development activity that you would like to add to the calendar please click here and submit your information.  To view the new calendar click here.  We will be adding more events to calendar in the coming weeks.

New Weather Link

A new weather link has been added to the start page. It is labeled "Current Marshall Observations" and it is located under the Weather section. This link offers detailed current weather conditions at 7 Mile Ridge. 7 Mile Ridge is located at the old Madison County landfill near our high school baseball and softball fields. The data is updated hourly from the weather station and it provides data on precipitation, pressure, temperature, wind and more. The charts and graphs are great for both Science and Math activities.
